California Pottery?, 4 3/4" Sweet Black Child, Black Memorabilia, Vintage MCM

His style is that of the MCM California Potters 1930's and 40's. His stance is that of several DeeLee Pottery children. He is unmarked, as are DeeLees. But I can't find that DeeLee made any black children. In fact the only children in that category are Brayton Laguna Pottery, but they are marked. So I have nothing...If you look at the bottom of his feet, you will see that they are not really meant for standing any length of time. Perhaps at one point in his life he had a base of some kind (although nothing is broken off). He is free standing, but not secure. Some museum putty would be a good idea.
NOTE: A couple of my photos appear to show that he has a chip on his chest. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or mends to this piece. He does have the crazing consistent with his time period. How can you resist?
